Books I’ve Read

  1. Sophie’s Word  by Jostein Gaarder This book goes through a journey of self discovery and the history of the world. I felt as if I was going through this journey with her. This book really caused me to open my eyes and ask questions about the world and how we learn as humans.
  2. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn  This book is about a girl, well woman now, Libby Day. Whose family was murdered by her brother. She testified against him. Now a member of the kill Club has reached out to her. A club where people go and discuss murder cases and Libby’s families’ is one of them. She goes on a journey to figure out if her brother really was the killer. This book helped me grow as a reader because of it’s plot and the writing style.
  3. Siddhartha by Herman Hesse Tells the story of a young man named Siddhartha as he tries to find the ultimate enlightenment of nirvana. Through out his journey through time he experiences lots of obstacles that get in his way, but he gathers the courage to keep going and fighting. In the end he becomes Buddha. This book helped me grow as a reader because it made me evaluate my own life and I felt like I was going on the same journey as Siddharta to find myself.
  4. Hush Hush quartet series by Becca Fitzpatrick, which include, Hush, Hush, Crescendo, Silence, and Finale This series is about a girl named Nora Gray who finds herself in some very odd circumstances when she starts falling in love with a fallen angel from heaven. She finds out the truth about her family, and Patch, the one who stole her heart. She had gathered courage to fight for her true love and for herself. She goes through a lot of obstacles, one major being that she loses her memory which creates a big whole in her mind that she has to fill. She journeys into the past to find answers to the present.
  5. Stiff by Mary Roach Tells us about what is done with human cadavers. I have read this book once before, coming in to 9th grade, and I wanted to read it again to better understand what the author spoke of and refresh my memory on prior gained knowledge.
  6. Antigone by Sophocles
  7. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger  This book opened my eyes to the world, it really is a coming of age story. It caused me to develop questions about the world and my life itself. It was some what challenging to see this while I read the book, because it just seemed like a dry story of someones life, but now that I think of it I see the book for it’s deeper meaning.
  8. 200l: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
  9. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks I had seen the movie and loved it, so I decided to read the book too and I grew to love it too. I love the plot of the story, it teaches you to live life to the fullest and not care about what other people have to say about you.
  10. The Off Season by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
  11. In the Country of Men by Hisham Matar This book was like no other, it was difficult at times to read. The plot was so different. In the end I got to know the characters and learn new information about a country I never really knew about.
  12. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen I started reading Sarah Dessen books at the end of the year and I really gre to love her books. They all correlate to each other in a small way. They’re really good cotton candy books. They teach you mini lessons on life and relationships.
  13. Along for the ride by Sarah Dessen
  14. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
  15. Someone Like you by Sarah Dessen
